MAYA KHOLA HYDROPOWER PROJECT

Maya Khola Hydropower Project area is located in Mamling VDC of Sankhuwasabha District of Eastern Development Region of Nepal. Geographically the project area is located between longitudes 87022’26” E and 87018’33” E and latitudes 27015’45” N and 27013’40” N as of Survey License boundary provided by DoED. In the physiographical regions, the project area belongs to the middle mountains, while the upper catchments of the Maya Khola extend to the elevation of 3082 m above the mean sea level.

 

The major project components shall be located at Mamling VDC on the left bank of Maya Khola. The headworks site is located after 50 m downstream of the confluence of small Chamaran Khola with Maya Khola. The Maya Khola  Hydroelectric Project is a run of the river scheme designed to diverts 4.3m3 flow from Maya Khola by approx. 20m long concrete gravity type Diversion Weir with side Intake and then to the Desanding Basin. Then after Headrace Pipe and about 2248m long inverted D shape 2.50m diameter headrace tunnel and Headrace Pipe will connect the water way to the Surge tank. The total length of Headrace Pipe is 5097m. To the downstream of the surge tank, 946m surface penstock pipe transport the water to the powerhouse located on left bank of Piluwa Khola. Finally the water will be diverted to the Piluwa Khola again through a cut and cover type Tailrace Conduit. The Gross head of the project is 437.30m.
